Fifth Stop of the Florida Pro Tour Kicks Off With the Florida Pro Tour stop number 5 heading into Capone's Billiards in Springhill, FL, this holiday weekend, a field of 62 players got ready to play. The 10-ball format interested a lot of the pro players, and everyone seemed eager to begin. Early in the first round Earl Strickland drew Buddy “The Rifleman” Hall. The match went back and forth with neither player gaining more than a two-game lead. Finally when the match reached hill-hill, Hall scratched on the break, handing Strickland the win. It was a real battle, and both players played strong and smart.
Through the rest of the round Finland’s Mika “Iceman” Immonen drew tournament director John DiToro and won 7-0. At about the same time past champion Robb Saez defeated his opponent 7-0. As the event winds up on Sunday, the prize money will be added to by $7,000, making this a profitable event for the winners.
