The tournament is being held this weekend at Country Club USA in Chelmsford, MA, which is bitterly cold.In the featured match in the last round of tonight’s one-loss side, two-time runner-up and European youth champion Vilmos Foldes was eliminated by Santos Sambajon Jr. 10-7. Though Foldes held a 7-4 lead, Sambajon won the next rack and then broke and ran out the next five to win the match.“I felt a little bit okay,” Sambajon laughed afterward. “It’s tough, but I gotta do my best. I gotta chance, I think, if I keep winning and winning.”Visit the IPT Qualifier D Image Gallery

He said that he’s going home to Hungary to relax, practice, and travel to Holland. “It will be a very big trip, but I am ready for it,” he promised and then added, “From the beginning, this has been almost like a world championship.”The players remaining in the winners’ bracket are:George BreedloveEric HjorliefsonRobb SaezGary AboodDan WallaceAntonio LiningBeau RunningenKarl BoyesRichard MolinieroImran MajidChris MellingWarren KiamcoThomas EngertJose GarciaFuruta KazuoGoh TakamiThere have been several upsets, and a few players have taken an unexpected early exit in addition to Foldes, such as Dave Hemmah, Frankie Hernandez, Richard Broumpton, and Louis Ulrich.
