Fisher Defeats Thornfeldt in Second Match at International Tournament of Champions By InsidePOOL StaffIn the second match at the Mohegan Sun Casino in Uncasville, CT, Allison Fisher defeated Helena Thornfeldt in a solid two sets to advance to the finals against Jeanette Lee.Currently ranked number 1 by the WPBA, Fisher traded games in the first set against her opponent until the score was tied at 2. A break-and-run got her another game, and then Thornfeldt rattled the 4 ball to allow Fisher to reach the hill. Fisher missed the 1 in the last game, but Thornfeldt allowed her back in after a failed bank attempt, and Fisher won the first set 5-2.
In the second set, Fisher quickly gained a 3-1 lead. With a nicely played 2-5 combo, Thornfeldt seemed like she was getting back in the game, but she missed the 1 ball in the next rack to allow Fisher to reach the hill 4-2. Unfortunately for “The Sledgehammer,” she scratched on her next break, and that was that, for Fisher ran out the balls perfectly to win by the same score of 5-2.The finals between Lee and Fisher will commence shortly.
