Fisher Dominates at the Delta Classic By InsidePOOL StaffAllison Fisher, InsidePOOL Magazine’s Female Professional Player of the Year for 2003, has added to her hardware collection by winning another title at the WPBA Delta Classic at Sam’s Town Hotel and Casino in Robinsonville, MS.Going through the full field of 64 of the best female players in the world, Fisher didn’t suffer one defeat. She met recent Hall of Famer Loree Jon Jones and defeated her 9-3 and then sent California player Stacy Hurst to the one-loss side 9-3 as well.
The explosive young Ga Young Kim took Fisher to the hill but ultimately succumbed 9-8, and Jennifer Barretta fell by the sidelines with another 9-3 count. Fisher then ran into Lee for the first time at this event but not the last, sending her to the west side of the chart. In the one-loss side, Lee battled Kim and sent her home in a fifth-place tie with young gun Sarah Rousey. She then went on to play the feared Karen “The Irish Invader” Corr but wasn’t stumped as she tore through former snooker player to reach Fisher in the finals. Unfortunately for the Widow, “The Duchess of Doom” was waiting eagerly for the rematch. Though the players traded games at first until the score was knotted at 5 apiece, Fisher won the last two games to win the final match 7-5.Visit InsidePOOL for the latest in the sport of billiards and pool.
