A delighted Engert said: "It was a very good victory for our team. We didn't play well in the first session so there was a little bit of pressure on me to be good and give the team a lead. I was very happy I did that."The crowd is unbelievable and I love to play here. I've been struggling here all week but I wanted to make a point for the team and with this crowd it was really nice."Both players were looking to record a win after struggling in previous matches of the tournament.Engert won the lag by some distance and this was the start of a fantastic performance from a focused, pumped-up player, who looked determined to prove himself in this competition. He ran through the opening rack to move 1-0 ahead and was soon at the table again in the second when Schmidt's shot at the 5-ball rattled in the jaws of the pocket. The German made it 2-0 and soon made it 3-0 in what was turning out to be a completely flawless effort that saw him not miss a single ball.Schmidt took the next from his own break but was struggling to live with Engert in this form, who completely dominated the next rack to make it 4-1.When Schmidt scratched off the break in the sixth rack there was only going to be one outcome as Engert put Europe back in front.
