Fury Florida Players Battle Late Into the Night Tori HiltyHaving 54 players show for a one-day tournament makes for a very long day. The final players of the Fury Florida Amateur 9-Ball Tour found this out on Sunday, July 25, 2004, with the top four money spots not starting until shortly after 10 p.m. It is quite possible that the final two players could be playing into the early morning hours. The event was held at Bankshot Billiards in Ocala, FL, which is owned by Mike and Linda Kohn. Taking an active interest in the business, the Kohns have successfully been in operation for 10 years, offering a full pro shop with a cue lathe for on-sight repairs, table sales and service, and a full bar and restaurant. Mike also finds time enough to play in tournaments, as evidenced by his participation in this event.Taking fifth place, Kohn started the day off strong but was sent to the one-loss side by Nomar Paula after making a five-rack comeback to take the lead 5-4. He couldn’t hold it, however, and Paula took the 7-6 win. Kohn later faced off against Steve Foster, who won with a commanding 5-1 final decision.Starting into the final four matches, Foster and Bobby Moore faced off on the west side of the chart to determine who would settle into fourth place while Paula and Jim Sandaler battled for the hot seat. Tomorrow will see how the top four spots fill out.Results:5th Mike Kohn, Larry Walthall $757th Pat Butler, Julio Aquino $609th Richard Murray, Wayne Hutter, Marty Linzy, Brett Preston $40 Visit InsidePOOL for the latest news in the sport of billiards and pool.
