Santos Sambajon and Parica continued their winning ways in the Fury World Summit of Pool 9-ball tournament at the Amsterdam Billiards in Manhattan, New York City. The 43-year-old North Torrance, California-based Sambajon outplayed Evan Broxmeyer, 11-1, and will next face Frankie Hernandez, who beat Danny Harriman 11-9. Sambajon, who had a bye in the first round, got going by crushing Jack Maginnis 11-4.
Parica, the 54-year-old resident of La Puente, California, who is also known as "The Giant Killer," crushed Mike Abou-daher 11-9 to advance against Ronnie Wiseman, who blanked Tony Crosby 11-0. Parica also drew a bye in the first round then opened his campaign by outplaying Trump 10-Ball champion and Canadian player Danny Hewitt 11-5. Four-time world champion Johnny "The Scorpion" Archer of the U.S. drubbed Carmen Lombardo 11-4 to move up against Mike Davis, an 11-9 winner over New England young gun Jarrod Clowery. Archer, a five-time Player of the Year, then went on to beat Canadian-based Filipino Edwin Montal 11-7 in his second game. Other notable cue artists advancing to the next round were 2001 World Pool Cardiff champ Mika "The Iceman" Immonen of Finland, Danny "Kid Delicious" Basavich, Charlie "The Korean Dragon" Williams, Bill Ferguson, Jimmy Wetch, Tony Robles, Steve Lipsky, and Rodney Morris of the U.S. and Niels "Terminator" Feijen of the Netherlands.
