Gabriel Grabs WPBA QualifierCrestwood, IL / Jacoby Cues Great Lakes Tourby David A. HanshawJulia Gabriel scored first place and a qualifying spot on the pro tour at the latest stop of the Jacoby Cues Great Lakes Tour, hosted by Pocket’s Billiards of Crestwood, IL, the weekend of January 21_22. The tour saw players from several different states brave the winter storm warning to play for both the WPBA qualifier and a share of the $500-added prize fund. Saturday play saw Gabriel post victories over Cheryl Morrell 7-5, Christy Dickerson 7-5, and CJ Jerome 7-4. Gabriel had made waves in these matches, but they subsided when she was derailed 7-3 in the hot seat match by a hot-shooting Amy Latzko. Latzko earned her way to the hot seat match with wins over Kathleen Moon 7-0, Becky Todd 7-5, and Tina Larsen 7-4.  Gabriel then slugged her way to the finals after defeating CJ Jerome in the semifinal match.
