Grossman Lands Sweet SavannahThe Southside Billiard Club hosted the Savannah Open with $2,000 added to the pot, and David Grossman learned how sweet Savannah, GA is by landing the victory and $1,000.  Because the open is one of the larger tour stops of the J. Pechauer Custom Cues Southeast Open 9 Ball Tour, the event drew 40 participants including some of the top regional tour players. The hot seat match displayed Brian Butler from Canada and Grossman.  The two undefeated players battled back and forth until Butler pulled away in the end 9-6.  Grossman's dismissal to the left side only fired him up more, but the road back to the final wasn't going to be easy.Scott Rabon worked his way through the one-loss side to reach the seminfinal by coming back from an improbable deficit against B.J. Ussery.  Down 6-1, Rabon came storming back to win 8 of the final 9 games for the 9-7 victory.  Now he had to match up against Grossman.  Neither Rabon nor Grossman could grab a big lead early, but Grossman turned his game up a notch and closed the match out by winning out the final games 9-6.The rematch was set between Grossman and Butler, and both players played tight games trading wins back and forth.  The match remained close until the bitter end, but Grossman closed out the match with an 11-9 victory.Other notable matches included David Shepherd, a regular Southside Billiard Club player, ousting tour owner Tommy Kennedy from the event. The next tour stop will be on October 16-17 at Numan's Billiards in Johnson TN, with an added pot of $1,000.  Results:1st David Grossman $1,0002nd Brian Butler $5403rd Scott Rabon $4504th Scott Lewis $3505th Patrick Brown, Mike Staubes $2507th B.J. Ussery, David Shepard $130  Visit InsidePOOL for the latest news from the sport of billiards and pool.
