Hall of Fame "Greatest Players" Ballot IssuedBCA considers candidates for April inductionColorado Springs, Colorado: The Billiard Congress of America [BCA] has issued its annual Hall of Fame ballot to BCA Voting and Associate members, who will consider three candidates in the "Greatest Player" category. Maurice Daly, Allen Hopkins and Earl Strickland have been put forth for BCA Hall of Fame consideration, with voting to conclude on February 6 and formal induction of the winner to take place at the BCA International Billiard & Home Recreation Expo in Houston, on April 6. Eligible BCA voters will have the month of January to review background briefs on the life and times of each of the candidates, and select one of the three gentleman for the Hall of Fame honor.
New York's Mr. Daly (1849-1932) devoted his entire life to playing, teaching and promoting billiards; Mr. Hopkins mastered a variety of billiard disciplines over four decades; and Mr. Strickland holds over 100 tournament titles. [ view profiles on a sample ballot ] Established in 1966, the BCA Hall of Fame contains the names of 49 individuals who, through their competitive skills and dedication, have enriched the sport and industry of billiards. The Greatest Player category is reserved for outstanding players who have been active in national or international competition, and has 38 players in its ranks. The Meritorious Service category has seen 11 inductions of individuals who have made lasting, memorable and important contributions to billiards. The formal likeness, name and induction date of each honoree is engraved on a plaque which is positioned along the Hall of Fame display wall in the BCA national office in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
