Haney and Williams Both Win on AWBTArizona Women’s Billiard Tour / Peoria, AZWith a paid 9-ball qualifier for a spot in a 2007 WPBA Classic event of the winner’s choice up for grabs, 24 ladies came out for the Arizona Women’s Billiard Tour’s December 9-10 event. The points race was so close that it came down to this tournament, bringing all the top shooters on the tour to compete.
Kristin Haney and Anne Gray fought their way through the winners’ bracket to reach the hot seat match, where they played with great patience before Haney emerged the 7-4 victor. While Haney waited for her final  opponent, Susan Mello and Gray duked it out in the semifinal match. Though Mello was not feeling well, she played a phenomenal match against Gray and took the win with a final score of 7-3.Haney and Mello, two tour veterans, matched up in the double-elimination finals, with Haney reaching a 5-2 lead in the race to 7. Finally the scored seesawed to double-hill, where a 5 ball miss handed the match to Mello. The second set wasn’t as close as the first but still showcased some great shooting by both players, with Haney winning 7-4.
