Hatch Does it AgainJoss Northeast Tour / Latham, NYby Rick DavisPool player Dennis “The Hatchetman” Hatch took the last Joss Northeast Tour stop of the year, going undefeated through the 37-player billiard field to win the lions’ share of the prize fund. Hosted by Diamond Eight Billiards in Latham, NY, this event was held over the December 2-3 weekend.
Fresh off a big win two weeks prior at the Viking Tour’s National Championship event, Hatch quickly found his way to the hot seat match against Joey Korsiak, and after a brief scuffle Hatch surged past 9-4. Meanwhile, on the one-loss side, Chance Chin bested Norm Pomaimville 9-6 in the quarterfinals. In the semifinals, Korsiak had complete control against Chin and before long the 9-4 win brought him to face Hatch again.A seesaw battle kept the finals close even as Hatch took a one- or two-rack lead several times. Finally Hatch was able to catch a gear and finish the match 9-7 to take down the event. This was Hatch’s second win in three events.Next, the Joss Northeast Tour will visit Cap’s Cue Club in Syracuse, NY, on January 13 for their first 2007 event of the 2006-2007 tournament season.Results:1st Dennis Hatch2nd Joey Korsiak3rd Chance Chin4th Norm Pomaimville5th Tom AcciauattiMike Zuglan7th Redgie CutlerLin Welscher
