Hjorliefson Opens the Billiards Season With a Win30K Tour / Waterloo, ONTby Inside POOL Magazine StaffWith summer winding to an end, a strong 50-player field gathered at Pool Paradise for the Canadian 30K Tour’s debut stop the weekend of September 9-10. Top Canadian player Erik Hjorliefson walked away with the first-place prize over some tough players, including Jeff White, Jason Holdaway, and Rob Brandenburg.After scoring a 10-7 win over Mike Leigh, Hjorliefson moved into the hot seat match against DJ McGuinley, whom he faced down and defeated 9-4. In the quarterfinal match, Tyler Nearing met Sam Siolas and prevailed 7-6, moving on to meet McGuinley. Nearing only got four racks before McGuinley made it past him to the finals grudge match. But it was a rematch all the way, even down to the score of 9-4, when Hjorliefson became the tour’s first winner of the season.
