Hopkins Wins NJ State 8-Ball ChampionshipsWPBA touring professional Dawn Hopkins won the NJ State 8-Ball Championships hosted by Castle Billiards and the J. Pechauer NorthEast Women’s Tour on June 21-22, 2003.Hopkins, a player representative for Viking Cues, did not win without a fight as Liz Schwartzreich sent her to the wrong side of the chart in the battle for the hot seat by winning the match 5-2. Hopkins then matched up with Jennifer Barretta for the rights to meet up with Schwartzreich in the finals. Barretta played as well as she could against the 23-ranked WPBA touring pro but came up short in the match 5-3.
In the final race to 7, Hopkins found new energy in her rematch against Schwartzreich and had her down 2-0 before she could tie Hopkins at three games apiece. But Schwartzreich failed to score any more games in the match, and Hopkins ended up winning the match 7-3. The J. Pechauer NorthEast Women’s Tour wishes to thank the Sacco family for their support of the J. Pechauer NorthEast Women’s Tour and looks forward to the next two events at Castle on July 12-13, 2003, and the Tenth Annual NJ State 9-Ball Championships on August 9-10, 2003. 1st – $450 - Dawn Hopkins2nd - $300 + Qualifier for U.S. Open – Liz Schwartzreich 3rd - $200 – Jennifer Barretta4th - $125 – Caroline PaoVisit InsidePOOL for the latest tounament updates.
