IPT Qualifier Field Narrows24 Players Set to Return on SaturdayThe dust is settling, and there are eight players in the winners’ bracket and sixteen in the one-loss side set to return on Saturday for the second IPT qualifier event for their 2006 season. The game is 8-ball, and the races are to a lengthy 10.The Pool Room is the host of this three-day event, located in Marietta, GA, and owned by John Duwong. It is an enormous room and full of ornate woodwork. There are a dozen Olhausen tables being used in the event, but the room itself has over 40 tables.Daryl Peach (picutred on left with Kevin Trudeau on right) of Great Britain won a $5,000 bonus for running six consecutive racks in his match against fellow countryman Tony Crosby. Brian Groce bested Dan Wallace of San Diego, CA, and remains in the winners’ side, as does Danny Green, a featured character in Playing Off The Rail, after his 10-7 win over Jean-Claude Benatchez. Cliff Joyner suffered a loss to Van Boening earlier, who ran five racks on him, and will meet CJ Wiley in tomorrow’s matches. Wiley took a first-round loss but then resurged, eliminating Scott “The Freezer” Frost by a 10-6 score.
