Infuriated Deuel Blasts 'sharking' MajidA Furious Corey Deuel blasted billiards player Imran Majid as "a disgrace to pool" and accused the European player of "sharking".Discuss the PartyPoker.com Mosconi CupIn an explosive pre-match interview before his encounter with Ralf Souquet, Deuel was unhappy as American captain Johnny Archer had just suffered a 7-2 defeat against Majid.
Deuel (pictured right) said: "What's this guy's name? The guy (Majid) is a disgrace to pool. I don't think he should ever play in this competition again. He was sharking our player wiping his hands on his towel in the last match."Television evidence showed one incident of Majid wiping his hands on his towel but had stopped a clear five seconds before Archer went to play his shot.Commentator Jim Wych defended Majid's behaviour and believes Deuel just made his remarks to try to deflect the pressure off himself."It cannot be used as an excuse and there's no reason for Corey to moan whatsoever," said Wych."The nature of pool players is that we're always looking for excuses. I think it didn't come out as Corey intended and I think he was trying to put the pressure on someone else but it didn't really work out."After Deuel's match against Souquet ended in a 7-2, the American tried to defuse the situation and apologised live on television to Majid, although he was now unhappy at referee Nigel Rees."I want to say sorry to Imran Majid and I shouldn't have said that," added Deuel. "I was a little bit mad we had lost two matches and they've been hard. But he does need to quieten it down with the towel."I think I got screwed on the lag and I think I won it. But Ralf played perfectly and they played well but it's only one day and there's a long way to go. It's an honour to play Ralf and a complete gentlemen on the table."
