Jeanette Lee Crowned Champion of Champions!By InsidePOOL StaffIn the finals of the International Tournament of Champions, which invited four of the top women players in the world to compete for the winner-take-all prize of $25,000, Jeanette Lee triumphed over Allison Fisher in an exciting sudden death tiebreaker. In the first set, Fisher completely dominated her opponent, who is currently WPBA ranked number 5. Fisher was on the hill before allowing Lee to get on the board. However, at 4-1, “The Black Widow” left Fisher a shot after a safety, and Fisher ran out to win 5-1.
The second set looked like it would be a repeat of the first when Fisher got to 2-0, but Lee won the next three in a row to take the lead for the first time. Two break-and-runs by both ensured Lee the hill with Fisher at 3, and then “The Duchess of Doom” tied it at 4 apiece. Fisher sold out after a Lee safe in the final rack to give Lee the second set 5-4 and to set the sudden death tiebreaker into motion. Fisher won the lag, and after trading safes, it was Lee who ended up in charge of the table. With sharp shots and excellent position play, Lee dropped the final 9 ball to win the $25,000 first-place prize.Visit InsidePOOL for the latest in the sport of billiards and pool.
