Jennings Tops the Field at Fury Georgia StopJim Jennings took first place on KBP Fury Georgia Amateur 9-Ball Tour after working his way through the winners' bracket, playing against some of the top players on the tour's point standing. A field of 20 players came out to compete in the $500-added event on July 10, 2004, and it was the seniors who ruled at Murphy's Brass Rail in Athens, GA, taking five of the six top money spots.Tour owner Kay Higgins had a chance to stop at this event while traveling through the area and met with some of the tour players. She stated, "It is always nice when I can meet the players face to face. It makes me feel good to see players enjoying the game as much as I do."Scott Richardson was enjoying his game, thinking his chances for appearing in the finals were good as he knocked T.F. Whittington to the one-loss side. It was here that Whittington faced Steve Cox and relegated him to fourth place.Stopping Richardson in his tracks, Jennings defeated his opponent in the hot seat match, sending Richardson close on Whittington's heels to the west side of the chart. Whittington won retribution for his earlier defeat by Richardson by knocking him into third place while he moved onto the finals. Aside from an initial lead favoring Whittington, the final match stayed neck and neck, with neither player gaining more than a two-game lead throughout. Culminating in a nail biting game tied at the hill, the final game of the match saw Whittington break and run until he missed a long bank on the 8 ball.
