Jeremy Jones Wins U.S. Open! By InsidePOOL StaffIn the single race to 11 that made up the 28th annual U.S. Open finals, Jeremy "Double J" Jones annihilated Jose "The Giant Killer" Parica by the score of 11-4. The Open began on Monday, September 15, and ended this evening around 10 p.m. Jones, recently the winner of the Texas Open over Labor Day weekend, has been playing some magnificent pool this weekend, and Sunday night was no exception. He took an early 2-0 lead, but Parica won the next two to tie. With several excellent break-and-runs, Jones was soon up 8-3. A 6-9 combo and another run-out quickly put him on the hill. With no good shot on the 1 ball in the next rack, he played safe, which started a lengthy safety battle between the two players. Parica missed a 6 ball eventually, and Jones played out the dicey rack. Down on a difficult 9 ball, he attempted a long-rail bank and watched as the ball slowly rolled into the pocket and hung there. Needless to say, Parica got that game. However, he fouled in the next on the 1 ball and gave Jones ball-in-hand and a fairly easy spread, and Jones was out for the 11-4 win.
