Key Given to KellyDelray Beach, FL / J. Pechauer Southeast 9-Ball Tourby Matthew Pingor Curtis Kelly set sail and headed out to win the January 7-8 tour stop of the J. Pechauer Southeast 9-Ball Tour. The event was hosted by Jump Shots Sports Bar and Billiards of Delray Beach, FL, although Kelly pretty much ran the show. The tension was pulled tight by the time the hot seat match went off. Facing tour director Tommy Kennedy, Kelly was sure to get a lead at any chance. He did so, and with that, he quickly dashed to a 9-4 win. The quarterfinals saw hopeful Richard Broumpton get on a roll. Pitted against Kennedy, Broumpton prevailed 9-2 and ended Kennedy’s campaign. Again in the semifinals, Broumpton made his presence known. It was clear that he wanted to own Florida. Benson could not concentrate and fell to the 9-4 onslaught that Broumpton unleashed. The moment of truth arrived, and both competitors were ready for one-another. Kelly did not plan on slowing down. Fast to leave his opponent in his dust, Kelly stopped looking back and surpassed Broumpton game after game. When the deluge cleared, Kelly had won 11-6.Results:1st Curtis Kelley2nd Richard Broumpton3rd Tommy Kennedy4th Chris Benson5th Jason SheermanScott Nodel7th Brandon ThomasEmily WilmothVisit InsidePOOL Magazine for the latest news from the sport of billiards and pool.
