Korean Dragon Torches Japan Event Charlie "The Korean Dragon" Williams continued his winning streak in Asia by a victory at the JBC Shizouka Open in Shizouka, Japan. A major event on the JBC (Japan Billiard Council) calendar, it hosted four qualifiers prior to the main event. Williams had to play in Stage 1 of the event as a qualifier the first day and won four consecutive matches with scores of 7-0, 7-4,7-0, and 7-2 to put him in Stage 2 with the invited JBC professionals. The main event included all the top-ranked players in the JBC, including #1 Ranked Hiroshi Takenaka and #2 Ranked Shuji Nagata (President of the JBC), but both players were upsetted early in the event. The only other foreign player in the event was Taiwan's Lee Wen Lo, who also had to qualify in Stage 1. Lo and Williams ran through their brackets and were heading to each other like a freight train. Williams, still on fire from his Mezz Seoul Open victory the week before, could not be stopped as he ran over his opponents in record times with scores 9-2, 9-0, 9-2, and finally 9-5 over Lo in the finals.
