Labonte Takes Second Billiard StopNew England 9-Ball Series / Peabody, MAby Rick DavisA strong 27-player field arrived to compete in the New England 9-Ball Tour’s second stop, held at Country Cue Billiards in Peabody, MA. The October 15 action ended with Randy Labonte coming through and winning the event undefeated.Quickly arriving at the hot seat match, Labonte faced Mike Minichello, who took the first four racks for the early lead, though Labonte was coming back to take two of his own. Minichello scratched on the 9, and then a 9 on the break let Labonte tie things at 4-all. Not looking back Labonte ran the next three racks to take the match 7-4.
Still in shock from his defeat in the hot seat match Minichello got shut out by Tom McGongale 7-0 in an absolute one-sided match on the west side. In the finals the lead passed back and forth until Labonte was able to capitalize on a mistake from McGongale to win the final game in the double-hill match.Results: 1st  Randy Labonte  2nd  Tom McGongale   3rd  Mike Minichello   4th  Philip Stevens   5th  Marty Herman   Roy Morgridge7th  Rick Sleeper   Derick Lappenne
