Liang Makes a Comeback in BilliardsTri-State 9-Ball Tour / New York, NYby Rick DavisTony Liang made an improbable comeback from an early defeat to take first place on the Tri-State 9-Ball Tour’s October 21 stop. A 17-player field turned out for the handicapped B-C-D event held at Amsterdam Billiards and Bar in New York, NY.Early on the winners’ side Paul Bausch shut out Liang 7-0 on his way to the hot seat match. Meeting Bausch there was Mark Mallari, who eased past Bausch 7-4.
Meanwhile, on the one-loss side Liang was mounting a comeback. A strong win over Ryan Leto 7-1 followed by the elimination of Bausch 7-2 quickly ushered Liang into the finals.Mallari and Liang went back and forth until the score reached 6-all, then a miss by Mallari left Liang to take the next three racks for the 9-6 win.
