MBCESPN Korea vs Japan Ultimate Pool ChallengeBrunswick Korea Pro Pool Tour Dragon Promotions produced its 4th event in Korea on its Brunswick Korea Pro Pool Tour(KPT) with an event involving a legendary rivalry between Korea and Japan. The event comprised of 3 men and 1 woman on each team and combined an exciting myriad of doubles, mixed doubles, 4 on 4, singles, and woman vs man matches. On paper, the Japanese would seem a sizeable favorite over the Koreans even on the Koreans home turf, but the score the first day did not reflect this. The day session started with the captains submitting their line-ups and Korea's Captain Park Shin Young seemed to have the right strategy here as they swept the Japanese 5 out of 5 matches. The Japan Team had its opportunites with 3 hill-hill matches that could have went better for them. The Japan Team made a crucial mistake on the 4 on 4 scotch Team match where all 4 players on each team take turns in the same rack. Trailing 2-0 in Match wins, the Japanese led 2-0 in a race to 3 when Japan's #1 Takenaka rattled an easy 1 ball and that led to the Koreans running out and coming back to keep an unshakebale momentum. Team Japan came back after the dinner break with a new strategy for the line up and it seemed to work for the first match as Japan scored its first win with Niwa winning over Jeong 4-2. But Japan's Rookie sensation Matsufusa seemed to be out of her element and was overwhelmed by Korea's Lim 4-1. Things didn't get much better for Japan when Lim played the very next match in the Woman vs Man match and shocked Japan by defeating #4 ranked Higaki 3-2. Day 1 ends with Korea man handling Japan 7 - 1 in a team race to 9 matches. Korea vs Japan Ultimate Pool Challenege will be broadcasted on MBCESPN for 8 weeks straight twice a week throughout Korea.
