Matt Janis Steps Up As Director of the Viking Cues 9-Ball Tour Mike Janis has officially announced his retirement as the Viking Cue "Open" 9-Ball Tour Tournament Director. Upon announcing this Mike declared, “I have been on the road for the last twelve years. I just want to kick back and get things into perspective, work on the sponsorships, the programs that we have for the room owners, and try to get more money-added for the players.” The position of Tournament Director will be taken up by Mike’s son, Matthew Janis. “I am ecstatic that I was able to create something like this for my family and my son, who is enthusiastic enough to step in and take it over.” Says Mike. Reflecting on those twelve years of traveling from his home in Cleveland, OH, Mike declared, “When you first start your own business you have the highest dreams in the world. It has gone absolutely phenomenal thanks to Viking Cues.” Matt gained his experience and recognition working with his father Mike Janis as a co-director on the Viking Cue 9-Ball Tour then developing and successfully directing and operating the Viking Cue "Amateur" 9-Ball Tour. With his new position, Matt will be continuing a high level of prestigious tournament direction that the players, sponsors and room owners have come to expect from the Viking Tour.
Concerning his new responsibility, Matt Janis was open to comment, “I am looking forward to this opportunity, and continuing on with the traditions that my father started with the Viking Cue 9-Ball Tour as well as developing new programs for the tour, its players and sponsors.” Mike will now have the time to really take the Viking Tour into a higher gear. “We want to expand on the open events and possibly start a women’s tour.” Mike posted. Barry Hart, of Viking Cue Manufacturing Inc., has known Mike and Matt Janis since the beginning of the tour. Happy to see what can unfold from their work Barry said, “Mike has carried himself very well over the years and has done great work for us. We have always been happy to have him on board.” Character goes a long way. With that in mind, the Janis’s will continue to produce one of the best 9-ball tours around. Mike Janis will step aside from the weekly traveling that is required as the Tournament Director and will now work exclusively as promoter of the Viking Tour.Visit InsidePOOL Magazine for the latest news from the Viking Cues 9 Ball Tour.
