McCready Sweeps Joss NE Tour Event By Tori Hilty, InsidePOOL staff“The Color of Money” character Keith McCready came through an exceptionally tough field of 53 players to defeat New York hotshot Frankie Hernandez to take top honors at the latest stop of the Joss NE 9-Ball Tour in Albany, NY, on April 17-18.The tournament took place at Golden Cue Billiards, a room owned by Rocco Spinelli that added $3,000 to the weekend’s events.  The room is the oldest billiards room in Albany and offers 22 Brunswick Gold Crown tables, 2 Brunswick billiards tables, and 1 heated billiards table.
With a total purse of $7,240 up for grabs, most of the top players in the Northeast came to play.  Players such as Mike Davis, Ryan McCreesh, Filipino Santos Sambajon, Danny Hewitt, Karen Corr, Julie Kelly, and Jerry Slivka all vied for the first-place prize of $1,750.  But after the two-day event it was Keith McCready standing in the winner’s circle after having defeated Hernandez 9-3 in the finals.Afterward, McCready stated, "Mike Zuglan has done it again.  What magnificent venue it was at the Golden Cue in Albany, New York.  This is a real player's poolroom, and I am impressed with the enthusiasm for pool up in this part of the country.  The owners made everybody feel special and went out of their way to make sure all the players were comfortable.  The fans were treated to some first-class action, to include Karen Corr and Julie Kelly.  What is nice is when everybody, players and spectators, have a good time.  My hat goes off to the Golden Cue and Joss Tour.  Thanks for giving me the opportunity to shine."Results:1st Keith McCready $1,7502nd Frank Hernandez $1,2503rd Jerry Slivka $1,0004th Dan Hewitt $7405th Ed Vazquez, Santos Sambajon $5007th Mike Zugland, Tim Parisian $3509th Tim Ketz, Mike Davis, Ryan McCreesh, Seth Del Villano $200Visit InsidePOOL for the latest news in the sport of billiards and pool.
