McDermott All American Tour Results from Lassiter’s BilliardsThe sixth stop of the 2006/2007 McDermott All American Tour (produced by the American CueSports Alliance – ACS) featured a $1,000-added purse and fifty-five billiard players, hosted by owner Jon VanRoekel at Lassiter’s Billiards in Clinton, Iowa, on Saturday, November 25. The event featured double-elimination 8-ball on bar boxes, and Frank DeCastecker of Moline, Illinois - rated a “5” on a regional handicap system - took the undefeated drive to the finals.
Frank clipped Chad Vilmont (Clinton, IA) [6] 5-5 in the A-side semi-finals and Rich Bideaux (Moline, IL) [5] 5-4 in the A-side finals to take the hot seat. Matches in the B-side bracket leading up to the tourney finals included Jesse Bowman (E. Moline, IL) [6] subjugating Chad Vilmont to 5th place by a 6-5 margin and Al Birkett (Clinton, IA) [5] finishing off Ron O’Meara (Cedar Rapids, IA) [5] in a tie with Vilmont 5-3. Bowman then eliminated Birkett 6-2 and then Rich Bideaux 6-1 to gain a final’s slot against DeCastecker. Bowman was not up to the task of beating DeCastecker in two sets, as Frank dispatched Bowman by a 5-3 score in set #1 for the title.By virtue of Frank DeCastecker being the highest-finishing ACS member, he qualified for a free singles entry into the 2007 ACS Nationals in Las Vegas – courtesy of the ACS.
