More Perfect Starts So Far at IPT Pool TournamentMika “Iceman” Immonen was among a few players who has had a perfect start so far today, squeaking by Larry Nevel in their hill-hill second-round match. “Perfect start today,” confirmed the Finn, “two and oh. I had a fairly easy match the first match—I was breaking good and broke and ran three racks. Then the second match I ran two racks—I think he came dry every time on the break and that made a huge difference. It was an intense match, he’s an intense guy.”IPT World Open 8-Ball Championship ForumsVisit the IPT World Open 8-Ball Championship Image GalleryRegarding the group he is in, Immonen added, “Well, they are all champions. Pagulayan, Deuel, and Alcano—they are all tough. But I like playing a tough group—when you get out of that you know you’re going to beat a couple out of the tournament, so they won’t bother you later on. I’d rather take care of business now. If you’re not gonna get through this group, why would you deserve to win any further? So it’s part of the competition. I kinda love it, it gets me wired up.”
Francisco Bustamante continues undefeated with his win over Danny Harriman 8-6, and in his group, Oliver Ortmann also has two wins so far. Alex “The Lion” Pagulayan defeated countryman Ronato Alcano 8-4 for his second win. Player of the Year in 2004, Thomas Engert has won both matches so far today, defeating Jose Parica 8-2, scoring five break and run-outs. Fellow German Ralf Souquet has also gone 2-0 for the day so far, besting Switzerland’s Dimitri Jungo 8-6. “So far it’s okay, I’m two and oh. I had two tough ones and can’t find a rhythm yet. I need to break better and make more balls on the break and find a rhythm. Right now I break and can’t make a ball, and the opponent is winning games in the opposite ways, but as long as I keep winning, I guess it’s okay.“It’s grueling, but I guess by now I am used to it. I will keep hanging in, of course. It would be nice to have a day off and relax a little more, but everyone has to face it, so I will try to make the best out of it.”Quick LinksPlayer StatsPrize Money Breakdown Round 4 GROUP 76D.
