Nelson Takes Florida Ladies Openerby Rick DavisThe 2007 season of the KBP Florida Ladies 9-Ball Tour got off with a bang on January 13 at Strokers Billiards in Palm Harbor, FL.  The modest turnout quickly reached a climax as Stephanie Mitchell met Tony Moles in the hot seat match, although it was Mitchell’s show all the way as she flew through the match with a 7-3 win. Next Moles headed west for the semifinal match where Jennifer Nelson was already waiting. Nelson made short work of Moles, shutting her out 5-0 to advance to the finals.
With the finals at hand, everyone expected fireworks between Mitchell, fourth on the 2006 points list, and Nelson, a close fifth on the list, but it was clear Nelson had other plans. Nelson brought her best game, only giving up two racks before taking the match 7-2 to claim the season’s first event.A very respectable finish came from 13-year-old Paige Morgan who finished fifth. Next, the tour moves on to Fatso’s Billiards in Tampa, FL, on January 27 for the season’s second stop.Results:1st Jennifer Nelson2nd Stephanie Mitchell3rd Tony Moles
