Another round of 9-ball wrapped up this afternoon at Derby City. "Mad Max" Eberle and Ralf Souquet were the only two players going into Round 11 that were undefeated. Eberle faced Jose Parica, who was defeated by Shannon Daulton in the previous round. If Parica won that match, he still would have been a contender for the world all-around champion. However, Eberle jumped to an early lead, only seeming to falter in the last game. He was on the hill with Parica at 3 and missed the 6 ball but got safe. Parica assessed the situation and then cleanly kicked the 6 in but was hooked for the 7. He kicked and hit it but missed, leaving Eberle only two balls, which he made to win the match 7-3. At this point, it was announced that Larry Nevel was the overall points leader for the Derby City Classic, and he was crowned World All-Around Champion.
The other two matches were equally as interesting. on the featured Accu-Stats table, Rodney "The Rocket" Morris matched up with Shawn Putnam. Off to a bad start, Putnam scratched on the break, and Morris ran out and then ran the next rack. Things did not improve too much from there for Putnam. He rattled the 1 ball with the score 5-3 Morris, allowing his opponent to get on the hill. Then he lost a safety battle in the next and final game, giving Morris ball-in-hand and allowing him to win the match 7-3.The only other player that was undefeated, Ralf Souquet, was matched up with Shannon Daulton. The score was 5-0 Daulton before Souquet got on the board. Souquet made some uncharacteristic misses and allowed Daulton to take control throughout most of the match. Souquet only put one more game under his belt before Daulton won the match 7-2.Round 12 matches will be at 7 PM. Ralf Souquet will face Max Eberle, while Johnny Archer will match up with Rodney. Shannon Daulton has a bye.
