Nortwick Makes Huge Comeback at Amsterdam BilliardsTri-State Tourby Rick DavisClayton van Nortwick came back from a first round loss on the Tri-State Tour to claim their handicapped C/D 8-ball event on December 17. Taking place at Amsterdam Billiards and Bar in New York, NY, no one in the 27-player field could stop Nortwick.
On the winners’ side tour regular Steve Falconer met Joe Hodge in the hot seat match and blasted him 5-1. On the one-loss side Darren Loveday eliminated Jeff Dworzenski 5-4 while Nortwick closed in, defeating Mark Mallari 5-3. Nortwick then swept through the quarterfinals and semifinals with wins over Loveday and Hodge, 5-3 and 5-4, respectively. In the finals between Falconer and Nortwick it looked to be over fast as Falconer got up to a 4-1 lead but then Nortwick took 4 games straight, and the first set. The second set tipped back and forth until Nortwick caught a gear again and charged through 5-3. After his first round loss Nortwick took 8 matches plus the two-set final to claim the event.Results:1st Clayton van Nortwick2nd Steve Falconer3rd Joe Hodge4th Darren Loveday5th Mark MallariJeff Dworzenski
