Owen Owns the Viking Billiard StopViking Cue 9-Ball Tour / Knoxville, TNby Rick DavisGabe “The Babe” Owen bested a full field of 64 billiards players, going undefeated to take the latest Viking Cue 9-Ball Tour stop, held at Breakers Sports Bar in Knoxville, TN, over the November 11 weekend. Advancing quickly through the event, former U.S. Open champion Owen destroyed Robert Green 9-2 to reach the hot seat match. Keeping pace was Shannon Daulton, who defeated Eddie Little 9-5 to meet Owen there. The two clashed hard, with neither gaining much ground until finally at double-hill Owen slipped past to reach the finals.
Meanwhile, action on the one-loss side was reaching the climax down to the top six. Little and Green headed west, where they were met with mixed results. Little blazed past Aaron Frady 7-3, but Green could not hold on and was eliminated by Rick Patterson 7-6. Little and Patterson met up, and before long Little had taken another 7-3 win. Next Daulton and Little had a rematch, this time with the opposite result, as Little took a strong 7-4 match to eliminate Daulton and advance to the finals.Although Little had made a good comeback from the one-loss side, Owen was just too strong for him, and he dealt Little a 9-5 defeat to finish his streak, winning the event undefeated.Results:1st Gabe Owen2nd Eddie Little3rd Shannon Daulton4th Rick Patterson5th Aaron FradyRobert Green7th Johnny CarsonScott HasleyVisit Inside POOL Magazine for the latest news from billiards and pool.
