PA State Moose Tournament a SuccessBy InsidePOOL StaffOn April 22-24, 256 Moose Lodge members from all over Pennsylvania flocked to Lewistown Lodge #143 for their annual 8-ball championships.  Three tournaments were played at the weekend event, including a four-man team event, and a singles and doubles tournament.  A full field of 64 teams took part in the tournament, and officials said they had to turn away 20 applications because the bracket had filled up by March 2. The team competition was double elimination, with each team playing six games per match, and all teams were guaranteed three matches.  Participants in the singles and doubles events were determined by their play in the team competition.  There were 434 matches and a total of 1,440 games played on 10 tables in just over 30 hours.  The team event was won by Randy Beers, Jason Banney, Cory Eberole, and Jim Six of Carlisle #11.  Bob Krause and Lee Trythall of Potterstown #2 took the doubles competition, while Windber #2's Rob Beard claimed the singles title.  With all the interest shown at the 2005 event, tournament officials are now considering expanding the number of teams to 128, but for now, they are going to applaud the success of this year's tournament.Team Results:1st Carlisle #11: Randy Beers, Jason Banney, Cory Ebersole, Jim Six2nd Carlisle #9: Pete Whitten, Tad Glossner, Ken Hess, Ken Donson3rd Millerstown #2: Jack Myer, Randy Foose, Rich Nace, Mike Fisher4th Steelton #3: John Walak, Mike Rouxe, Buddy Kupl, Chuck WhitmyerDouble's Results:1st Pottstown #2: Bob Krause, Lee Trythall2nd Chickies Rock #2: Raymond Donley, Greg Greener3rd Hanover #2: Scott Sterner, Joe Stem4th Pottstown #1: Robert Krause, Steve WarwickSingle's Results:1st Windber #2: Ron Beard2nd Pottstown #2: Larry Szwaczkowski3rd Carlisle #9: Tad Glossner4th Lock Haven #1: Carl WelshansVisit InsidePOOL for the latest news in the sport of billiards and pool.
