Pendley the Punisher on the Viking Cues Open 9-Ball Tourby Matthew PingorHickory, NC - Adam Pendley awed the room at Randolph’s Billiards of Hickory, NC. Running undefeated towards the $1,000-added money, this 15-year-old wiz kid annihilated a 57-player field February 18-19 during the Viking Cue 9-Ball Tour. Randolph’s Billiards is open 24/7, and the younger pool crowd around there all are able to play. “These kids down here can play … they all know how,” says tour director Matt Janis. That fact was apparent in the hot seat match. Facing Matt Armstrong, Pendley sprinted by him through 15 games before winning 9-6.
Tony Watson matched up with Brian Capps in the quarterfinals. Falling short, Armstrong fell 7-6. Capps then shuffled over to play Armstrong. Capps tricked Armstrong into thinking that he had a chance in the semifinals. Capps shifted into gear towards the end of the match, to win 7-5. Upon moving into the finals, Capps knew that Penbley was not interested in stopping his Le Mans performance. In just the first match, Pendley overwhelmed Capps 9-5 to place first.Results:1st Adam Pendley2nd Brian Capps3rd Matt Armstrong4th Tony Watson5th Justin DanielsJeff Abernathe7th Steve McDanielsMonte Harris9th John VistotskyTodd WarlockSonni DemetroMarcus PenbleyVisit Inside POOL Magazine for the latest news from the Viking 9 Ball Tour.
