The Viking Cue 9-Ball Tour made a stop at JOB Billiards in Nashville, TN, over the weekend of October 11-12, 2003, and drew 41 fine local players out to compete. This $1,000-added stop saw regular Bobby Pickle in the winners’ circle after a defeat of John Reese in the finals. JOB Billiards is the premier establishment in Nashville (and most likely in the entire state of Tennessee) for players. The room is divided into two sections: one with 9-foot tables and one with bar-sized tables. If you like country, the music is great, and the staff is always pleasant and helpful.
Tournament director and BCA-certified referee, Gary Jones ran a tight ship this weekend. In the hot seat match, Pickle and Reese faced off for the first time that evening, with Pickle coming out the winner by the score of 7-2. Reese met Rusty Jackson in the semifinals, defeating him in a double-hill match and relegating him to third place. The rematch between Reese and Pickle looked like it was going to go to Reese after the first set, which he won 7-2. In the second set, Reese had Pickle at a 4-2 deficit when Pickle won the next four games in a row to make the score 6-4. He allowed Reese one more game before he finished the job and won 7-5. Pickle has only played twice in the Viking Cue 9-Ball Tour, but he has taken first place both times.
