The second day of the BCA Open 9-Ball Championships have seen some great matches amongst some of the best 9-ball players in the world.  The men's and women's events progressed through the second round with few upsets but excellent all-around play.Last year's inductee to the Hall of Fame, Lori Jon Jones, went up against Melissa Little and came out on top 9-5.  Helena "The Sledgehammer" met Phoebe Choy of Hawaii and defeated her 9-6.  And the "Texas Tornado," Vivian Villareal, bested Fran Crimi 9-4, relegating her to the one-loss side of the chart.
In the afternoon match, the crowd was treated to a hill-hill match between Johnny Archer, who recently won the last IBC stop in Calgary, ontario, and the Brunswick professional men's event in Valley Forge, PA, and Scott "The Freezer" Frost, winner of the 2002 Music City Open.  Frost reached the hill first, but Archer played safe on 3 ball.  After thinning the 3 and playing the cue back to the rail, it looked as if Frost might've put Archer in a bad spot, but instead Archer kicked at the 3 and made the 9, bringing him to the hill as well.  With the alternating-break format, Frost broke the next rack but surrended the table after a miss.  After a safe on the 5 ball by Archer, Frost left his opponent a shot, setting up perfectly for the 7-9 combo and the win.Larry Nevel, recent All-Around Champion at the 2003 Derby City Classic, gave U.S. Open Champion Ralf Souquet a run for his money in their winners' bracket match.  The match seesawed all the way to 8-8, where Souquet pulled ahead to the hill.  He made nothing on his next break, but after Nevel missed, Souquet smoothly made his way across the finish line to win 11-8.A sunburned Troy Frank played a difficult match with room owner Jimmy Wetch, who had the best of it from the get-go.  Frank started to make a comeback, but the deficit was too great, and Wetch was on the hill when Frank played a 3-4 carom and left himself no position for his next shot.  He tried for a bank but left it in the jaws, and Wetch got out easily to win 11-5.
