Putnam Chalks Up 50 on Viking Cue 9-Ball Tourby Matthew PingorHuntington, WV - It was quite the night for Shawn Putnam. Placing first yet again, Putnam managed to collect his fiftieth first place finish on the Viking Cue 9-Ball Tour’s February 25-26 stop. The display amazed the crowd at TJ’s Billiards of Huntington, WV. Of no obstacle to Putnam was a field of 38 players, who all turned out for a purse of $2,980. In the hot seat match, Putnam and Dan Trogdon, of Waterford, OH, climbed to sixteen games. Trogdon was trying to hold on. Putnam could not look down at Trogdon for fear that he would lose all grip. Pulling himself up, Putnam rose to the top 9-8. The quarterfinals saw a hot pursuit to reach the finals. Trogdon still had some footing as Chris Kaiholz began gaining on him. Exhausted, Trogdon could not hold out any longer and Kaiholz won 7-4.
Moving on up, Kaiholz slighted Marc Slye JR, in a lightning fast 7-1 semifinal match. What was obvious, was the fact that Putnam knew he was going to win. Facing Kaiholz, that made all the difference. Finishing the finals in just 20 minutes, Putnam anchored his fiftieth win 9-3.Results:1st Shawn Putnam2nd Chris Kaiholz3rd Marc Slye JR4th Dan Trogdon5th Tim HeathJoey Arbuckle7th Justin LazaroMike Stiltner9th Marc Slye SRDaniel Gameill11th James KimmerlyTJ SextonVisit Inside POOL Magazine for the latest news from the Viking 9 Ball Tour.
