Ramirez and Lampert Undefeated at BilliardsFast Eddie’s Olhausen 9-Ball Tour / San Antonio, TXby Rick DavisA big weekend at the Fast Eddie’s Olhausen 9-Ball Tour brought out 90 players in the open division and 24 players in the ladies’ division, although none could stand in the way of Ishmael Ramirez and Amanda Lampert. The double-elimination 9-ball action went down at Fast Eddie’s in San Antonio, TX, their final regular stop of the season. In the open division Ramirez slammed James Davis Sr. 9-4 to reach the hot seat match, while Sylver Ochoa defeated J.P. Lopez by the same margin in order to face Ramirez. A close match unfolded until Ramirez pulled ahead to take the match 9-7 and reach the finals.
Then it was up to the one-loss side to battle it out. Ali Affas started a good run, knocking out Daniel Coffman 7-6 and Jui Lung Chen 7-3. Hot on his heels was Al Mason, who eliminated Robert Stewart 7-5, Bill Regalis 7-3, and Davis Sr. 7-4 to reach the quarterfinals. Affas came up just shy of the quarterfinals after a rough double-hill loss to Lopez. Mason squeaked past Lopez double-hill to reach the semifinals, then was shown the door by Ochoa who slipped past him in yet another double-hill match to get another chance at Ramirez in the finals. With the previous rounds tense, the finals were no different as the match crept towards double-hill, and just after 3 a.m., Ramirez claimed the match 9-8. The ladies’ division kept a quicker pace as Amanda Lampert and Christina De La Garza quickly made their way to the hot seat match. Lampert pulled ahead and took the match 7-5 to reach the finals. On the one-loss side Kawnania Watson eliminated Jennifer Kraver, 5-1 while Helen Hayes knocked out Terry Petrosino 5-3.Hayes made her way past Watson 5-3 in the quarterfinals, but Garza was waiting to find her way back to the finals. The semifinals tipped each way until Garza slipped past 5-4. The finals offered a rematch of the hot seat match, although the outcome was similar, and this time Lampert did one rack better, defeating Garza 7-4 to claim the title. The tour now takes a brief break until the December 2 weekend when the season finale will wrap up a great year.Open Results:1st Ishmael Ramirez2nd Sylver Ochoa3rd Al Mason4th J.P.
