Ray Clinches Win at Fury Tidewater Event Robert Ray walked away from Fast Eddie's in Goldsboro, NC, with first place and a paid entry to the Carolina Open in August after fighting his way through a field of 38 players that showed to battle in the second stop of the KBP Fury Tidewater Tour. Among the new faces that came out to this $1,000-added event on July 10-11, 2004, were world-class snooker player Kelly Fisher, compatriot Val Finney, and Canadian Eric Hildabrand.Making a stop on his travels from Toronto to South Carolina, Hildabrand's power-break shook the tables and took him through his first two matches with ease. It looked like the Canadian was a player with winner-circle potential, but Ray commanded the quarterfinals, leaving the newcomer in fourth place.Steve Paige went all the way through the winners' side to arrive in the battle for king of the hill. Here he would face off against Delton Howard, who had earlier knocked eventual winner Ray to the one-loss side in a close match. Paige defeated Howard, setting up a rematch between Howard and Ray in the match to determine third.Determined to get to the finals, Ray turned things around in this match by defeating Howard and leaving him in third place. Both Ray and Paige each had some errors and a few bad rolls during the finals, but they did not let it throw them from their games. The match was close throughout, but Ray ended the match with a 9-6 victory.
