Round Robin Win for Kiamco
Blaze 10-Ball Tour / Edison, NJ
by Jose Burgos
A small but strong field showed up for the Blaze 10-Ball Tour’s March 11 stop. Hosted by Edison Billiards in Edison, NJ, the stop drew players such as Antonio Gabica, Matt Krah, and ultimate stop winner Warren Kiamco of the Philippines.
There were two groups of six playing in a round robin format. Each win gained the player one point, and the points determined in which place each finished. Krah led the first group by defeating Kiamco 5-2, with Carl Yusuf and Kiamco rounding out the players from that group to advance to the final round. Leading the second group, Gabica was joined in the finals by Chavez and Joe Frady.
The final six players put on quite a show, and all the points were close. Kiamco led the way with 23 points, while fellow countryman Gabica took second with 22 points. There was a tie between Chavez and Frady, who both earned 21 points, which led to a one-game sudden death game. After winning the coin flip, Frady broke and ran out to earn taking third place, with Chavez having to settle for fourth. Krah and Yusuf took fifth and sixth place, respectively.
