Sambajon Shines in Hampton Ridge Tour’s NJ Stop The Hampton Ridge 9-Ball Tour made its third stop May 1-2, 2004, at PJ’s Billiards in Linden, NJ, and brought out the likes of Santos Sambajon, Josh Brothers, Tony Robles, and “Bristol” Bob Begey, to name a few. Sambajon went through the field of players with ease, defeating Marty Ciccia, Kerchner, Lee Holt, and Begey with wins of three to four games over his opponents to reach the ultimate goal.Inaugural stop winner Josh Brothers started strong by winning his first two matches, but his momentum was slowed by Bristol Bob, who knocked Brothers to the one-loss side with a win of 7-4. Brothers fought his way through the west side of the chart, defeating Muhammad 7-3, Marty Ciccia 7-3, Lee Holt 7-4, and Phil Sherman 7-3. A rematch with Begey in the semis saw the pair battle for a spot in the finals. This time, Brothers came out on top with a score of 7-3 and moved ahead to face off against Sambajon in the final match.
Sambajon’s break was too much for the young Brothers, and it secured the Filipino the win of the first game. Brothers came back to win the second only to give the next four racks up to Sambajon, making the score 5-1. Brothers again won one more game only to have Sambajon crank the score up to 7-2. The battle continued back and forth and Brothers scored one more win, but he just couldn’t hold onto it. Sambajon ran out the last two games to win the third stop of the Hampton Ridge 9-Ball Tour by the score of 9-3.Results:1st Santos Sambajon2nd Josh Brothers3rd Bob Begey4th Phil Sherman5th Matt Krah, Lee Holt7th Marty Ciccia, Tony RoblesVisit InsidePOOL for the latest news in the sport of billiards and pool.
