Schmidt Wins Fifth Florida Pro Tour Stop By InsidePOOL StaffAfter a long night of play, Saturday the field of remaining players was back at noon o­n Sunday. The day started with a win by Robb Saez, Buddy Hall, Tony Crosby, and Jimmy Wale sending them into the next round. They all played strong, but there was no room for error as they each already had o­ne loss. o­n the undefeated side, Rodney Morris defeated Ray Martin, while Mika Immonen defeated John Schmidt. Soon after Charlie Williams defeated Shannon “The Cannon” Dalton, while Danny Harriman defeated Joey Korsiak.The top eight began play with Immonen versus Morris, Williams versus Harriman, Hall versus Saez, and Martin versus Schmidt. The first two pair ups were o­n the undefeated side, while the other two were in the o­ne-loss bracket. As the tournament progressed, Schmidt defeated Hall 9-2, and at the same time Immonen defeated Williams 9-3. All four players were smooth and careful, and the whispers from the crowd could be heard through out the room. Schmidt made a 10 o­n the break as well as several other great shots that turned many heads.
In the next round, Schmidt defeated Williams soundly in a 9-1 match. Schmidt made another 10 o­n the break, as well as a 10 ball combo early in another game.The finals saw Schmidt and Immonen in an 11-6 match. The excitement was huge for the players, and the crowd who started to gather closer and closer. Another 10 o­n the break by Schmidt was seen, as well as more than their share of safeties.
