Souquet Defeats Reyes for Japan Cup The 6th JAPAN CUP has finished with Ralf Souquet defeating Efren Reyes 11-5 in the finals. Souquet slowly pulled ahead of Reyes until he had a commanding lead. Reyes finally missed the seven ball in the final rack to give Souquet the chance to snatch his first Japan Cup. Souquet started his trek Sunday by overpowering Kiyoshi Suzuki, 11-5. He then proceeded to the match in the semi-finals with his nemesis Bustamante, whom had earlier defeated Thorsten Hohmann, by 11-8.
Meanwhile the other finalist, Efren Reyes, matched up with a player that he has been seeing a lot of in match play situations, Jeong Young Hwa. This time, Reyes dominated the match-up, handing Jeong Young Hwa an 11-3 defeat and his exit to the tournament. Reyes won four straight victories for Jeong over the last year.At semi final Reyes defeated Japanese hope Syuji Nagata. Nagata had a great performance this tournament and also knocked out Charlie Williams and Mika Immonen.
