Stevie Moore Gets Greenville Viking Eventby InsidePOOL StaffThe Viking Cue 9-Ball Tour converged upon Greenville, SC, at the fantastic room of Game Time/Rip Tide. The $2,000-added event drew a tough field of 68 players, with Stevie Moore emerging as the winner in his two-set finals with Randy Burris.Room owner Jimmy Hodges reported that the Viking event was the largest that Game Time/Rip Tide had ever hosted. This sounds like it will be the first of many more events to come! The 20,000-SF facility, in addition to pool tables, boasts a large dance floor, great food, a full bar, palm trees, and volleyball courts, all of which the players seemed to enjoy.Local high roller Tony Watson showed up, only to be defeated in a hill-hill match with Bruce Barrong and then eliminated by Matt Bolfin. In the hot seat match, BJ Ushery was escorted to the one-loss side of the bracket after his match with Randy Burris. Ushery was up 5-2, but Burris came back to win 7-5. Eddie Little ended up in fourth place courtesy of a 7-0 drubbing by Moore, a World Bar Table Champion.
Ushery found himself matched up with Moore, who was working his way through the one-loss bracket, in the match for third place and not liking it, as Moore defeated him 7-4. Moore then went on to play Randy Burris in the true double-elimination finals. Burris has taken second place in the last two consecutive Viking Tour events, and unfortunately for him, nothing was going to change for him this weekend. When the first set was hill-hill with Burris poised to run out, he miscued on a simple cut on the 6 ball, handing Moore that set. The second set was more decisive, with Moore shutting out his opponent and winning the finals by the score of 7-2.1st - Stevie Moore $1,8002nd - Randy Burris $1,2003rd - BJ Ushery $8004th - Eddie Little $5605th/6th - Ed Rolden, Brian Butler $3407th/8th - Jeff Abernathy, Matt Bulfin $1609th/12th - John Parks, Bruce Barrong, Michael Svkolnicki, JC Ramui $8013th/16th - Dennis Killough, Jim Jennings, Joe Rockman, Steve Hollman $60The next Viking Cue 9-Ball Tour event will be $1,000 added and take place at TJ's Billiards in Huntington, WV, on April 26-27, 2003.
