Stottlemyer Stages a Billiard ComebackBlaze 9-Ball Tour / York, PAby Rick DavisAfter an impressive comeback over some of the tour leaders, former state billiards champion Brett Stottlemyer stunned the field with a comeback to take the top finish. Taking place at Ivory Billiards in York, PA, a 32-player field turned out for the Blaze 9-Ball Tour’s October 29 stop. Reaching the hot seat match were Bill McCoy and Joe Cataldi, who scuffled at first until McCoy took charge, moving to the finals from the 7-5 victory. On the one-loss side Stottlemyer was just getting started. Two 7-4 thrashings over tour leader Mike Davis and top regional player Shaun “Get Some” Wilkie brought Stottlemyer to the semifinals, where he drilled Cataldi 7-0.
In the finals Stottlemyer faced McCoy, who had defeated him double-hill earlier in the event. This time Stottlemyer had a lot of momentum from his string of wins, and once he took the lead he held onto it, taking the match 9-4 and ending an amazing run for the first-place finish.
