by InsidePOOL Staff
The Super Billiards Expo wrapped up today and the last of the amateur events, the second-chance scramble, and the pro-am bar box finishing off the remaining action. The 15th Annual Super Billiards Expo, an Allen Hopkins production, began March 15 and brought out thousands of eager pool fans and players to the Valley Forge Convention Center.

In the pro-am event a full 32-player field was offered to the standing-room only crowd that witnessed the two days of action. During the final day of the expo the last three rounds were completed, starting with Stan Tourangeau taking a forfeit from Richard Broumpton, while Charlie Williams, Tommy Tokoph, and Antonia Gabica each won their matches. Williams dispensed with Tokoph in no time, but Gabica and Tourangeau ground it out for hours. Finally Gabica was able to come through in the final set for the right to face Williams in the finals. Soon after the start it was clear Gabica was in gear, and after defeating Williams 7-2 in two straight sets, he took home the first-place prize, along with the title of Pro-Am Bar Box Champion.
At the same time the second-chance scramble was moving along, with the men’s division filling the 128-player board and the ladies' board drawing in 23 competitors. In the men’s division Bucky Souvanthong blazed his way through the board, and after a 5-1 victory in the finals, he took away the first-place purse. Nearby the ladies' division sifted down to Dawn Clark and Teruko Cuccillelli. Although Clark had played strong in the semifinals, a couple of errors against Cuccillelli proved too much, and after Cuccillelli evened the score she proceeded to claim the match 4-2.

Mike Dechaine defeated Dave Grau in three sets to take the largest trophy in the men's open division of the Expo events. Korean Yu Ram Cha defeated Pam Treadway in three sets to take the first-place prize in the women's open event. In the junior divisions, 14-year-old Adam Tanner emerged victorious over Ryan Mayo to take the 14-and-under title, while the 18-and-under field was aced by Richard Barney, who is only 15. Barney topped Michael Tosado in the three-set final. In the senior event, Ohio native Ken Kerekes won a rather lopsided match with PA poolroom owner Dennis Bolella.
Andy "The Magic Man" Segal emerged victorious at the 2007 Trick Shot Masters Event at the Super Billiards Expo. Segal wrested the title away from "The Tennessee Tarzan" Mike Massey at the latter end of the duo's head-to-head battle in the finals.
