Sweet Sounds From Manicello on the J. Pechauer New England A/B 9-Ball Tourby Matthew PingorProvidence, RI - Rich Manicello wiped away a 40-player field as the J. Pechauer New England A/B 9-Ball tour turned out for the February 25-26 event. Held at Snooker’s Billiards of Providence, RI, the stop boasted a $1,500 purse and featured a night of pure bliss for Manicello. Kicking off the festivities, Manicello played Jay McCoy in the hot seat match. This match lasted about as long as a stop at McDonalds, at the drive-through. In only nine matches, Manicello folded McCoy 7-2. The quarterfinals saw a display of safe playing that made Nerf toys look harsh. After two hours of play, the match was over when Randy Labonte decided to win 7-6.
McCoy had a return in the semifinals. He was working on having another chance at Manicello. That would not happen. Instead, Labonte decided that he would play Manicello, and made that happen by winning 7-5 over McCoy. The finals panned out in a race to nine. Manicello and Labonte took that race to only 16 games. After some tight play and several mistakes on Labonte’s behalf, Manicello won the match 10-6, to place first.
