The 2007 International Cue Collectors Show
The 2007 International Cue Collectors Show will be held October 18-20, 2007 at the Magnolia Hotel in downtown Houston, Texas. Thursday, October 18 will be a day for golf and socializing over an informal dinner. On Friday, October 19, the event officially begins with a morning introduction of the new book “Cue Art” by Martyne Bachmen and a discussion on cue collecting and art featuring a panel of the invited cuemakers and guests. That afternoon a private cue showing for cuemakers, participating cue collectors and guests will be held in the hotel’s main ballroom. During this showing the “Grand Collection 2007” will be selected, comprised of cues selected to represent each participating cuemaker and collector. A cocktail party will follow at 5:00 PM.
On Saturday, October 20 at 12:00 noon the cue exhibition will open to the general public and will feature the greatest cue collections in the world plus new cues created by the invited cuemakers. One of the highlights of this show will be the extensive Balabushka collection of the Glenn family. The ”Grand Collection” will also be available for viewing.
Invited cuemakers include: AE Cues, Arthur Queue, Mike Bender, Richard Black, Richard Chudy, Ginacue, Jerry McWorter, Pfd Studios, Samsara, Bill Schick, Thomas Wayne and Josswest.
New this year is the “Lone Star Collection,” created just for the 2007 International Cue Collectors Show. Each of the participating cuemakers has been invited to create a new cue based on this theme. This collection will be offered to the highest bidder in a silent auction taking place during the Saturday show.
On Saturday evening following the show an arranged dinner for the cuemakers, collectors and guests will be held at the hotel. The winners of the “Collectors Choice” award and the “Josswest” award will be announced. In addition, a new prize called the “People’s Choice” award will be presented to the cue that the general public has selected from the “Grand Collection” earlier that day.
