APA ANNOUNCES REGIONAL QUALIFYING SITES FOR 2003 NATIONAL SINGLES CHAMPIONSHIPS Locations throughout the country to host regional qualifiers for Vegas eventLAKE SAINT LOUIS, MO (January 21, 2003) - American Poolplayers Association(APA) members from across North America will attempt to qualify for the 2003National Singles Championships beginning in late February. Players whoadvance to the championship round will travel to Las Vegas to compete for aportion of the $300,000 in cash and prizes to be awarded at the 8-BallClassic and 9-Ball Shootout Singles Championships.

Last year, 35,000 APA members attempted to qualify forregional competition in this event. More than 5,000 members advanced toregional competition, with nearly 350 advancing to the championship rounds.All nationally qualified players receive free lodging and travel courtesy ofthe APA.To be eligible to compete in the APA Singles Program, a member must haveattained 10 League match scores during the past two years. Players who areeligible pay a $15 entry fee to play on a Local Qualifier Board consistingof eight APA members. Local Qualifier Board winners advance to Regional andNational competition with no additional entry fees. Board winners advanceregionally and nationally into one of three Skill Level Tiers thatcorresponds with their skill level.
