The Earthquake Hits Chesapeake By InsidePOOL StaffIn the featured match-up in the 3 p.m. round at the U.S. Open, Keith "Earthquake" McCready met Buddy "The Rifleman" Hall on the Accu-Stats table. Both players started off slowly, with several uncharacteristic errors that may have been due to the slick new Simonis cloth. This match was also played with a red-spotted cue ball, which enables the audience to watch the "spin" on certain shots.Neither player ever gained more than a two-game advantage over the other during the match. In the featured televised matches, if a player makes the 9 ball on the break, he automatically wins $500. Unfortunately, this did not occur this time. The match seesawed to a hill-hill finale after McCready won two games in a row. With Earthquake breaking, he eased in a 3 ball after a pause, causing the audience to gasp, and with a great force-follow shot on the 6 ball for the 7, ran the remaining balls. With a "Yes!!" on the 9 ball, McCready won the match 11-10.
